Before You Begin: Check Compatibility
- Ensure that your Windows 11 system meets DirectAccess requirements
- Your organization’s infrastructure supports DirectAccess
Enabling DirectAccess in Windows 11
- Press
Win + X
and selectWindows Terminal (Admin)
. - Type the following command:
netsh net interface ipv6 show interface <Your Network Adapter Name> > interface.txt
- Open a text editor and open the created file “interface.txt”. Look for your network adapter name starting with “Global”.
- Copy your network adapter name.
- Go back to Windows Terminal, type:
netsh net ipv6 add interface <Your Network Adapter Name> memberof <IPv6 Address of your DirectAccess Server>
and press Enter.
Configuring the Connection Settings
- Press
Win + I
for settings, then selectNetwork & Internet > VPN > DirectAccess > (Configure)

- Under the “Security” tab, choose your certificate and configure it as needed.
- Save and close.
